First up, hot off the press, a new Carles Trepat video. This time he’s playing a Torres guitar that belonged to Severino García Fortea (1854-1931), a friend, neighbor, and student of Francisco Tárrega:

Enrica Savigni and Marco Ramelli have a new duo album out. Enrica plays without nails and Marco plays with. They create an enthralling, enchanting soundworld:

I added a page to the site for Teresa de Rogatis, an extraordinary yet largely-forgotten no-nail guitarist, pianist and composer.

Finally, I made a slightly impromptu video discussing ‘tips and tricks’ of no-nail playing. I confess I’m much happier writing than talking, but some may find this useful:

    The works of Madame Rogatis are superb…and damn near impossible to access. After playing the guitar for over 60 years, more than half of which no-nails, technique is the key…dont slack, those beginning books are used daily. PUJOL 1-4. Ascending/Descending legato, portamentos (areastres), etc. The goal is sound.

      Yes, I’m on the hunt for some more of her works.

      If one is an attentive listener, the technique and sound will follow I think.
