First up, we have a wonderful Mozart duet by Carles Trepat (no-nails) and Edin Karamazov (nails). It’s a rare opportunity to hear the two techniques side-by-side. Both are playing Torres guitars with gut and silk strings.
I’ve added a page on Pepita Roca, the last student of Tarrega. Segovia’s comments about her playing are particularly curious. Read here.
I’ve also added a page on Salvador Garcia, another no-nail student of Tarrega. As well as his notable career and influence on Segovia, find out about his strange way of stringing his guitar! Read here.
There’s now a short bio of me and a summary of my research on the International Guitar Research Centre site. Marco Ramelli also kindly included my recording of William Baines’s Twilight Woods on the TouchTheSound website; TouchTheSound is a remarkable project that everyone interested in the sense of touch on the guitar, especially with regard to historic instruments, should check out. Finally, and most surprising news of all, I may be making a very brief appearance in an upcoming Mexican documentary on Wagner (not an April fools)…
